Is the right hand mirror?

Is the right hand mirror mount left hand thread? Mine is stuck and before I get "tough" with it I want to make sure I am going in the right/left direction.

On my 1980 the nut holding the mirror secure is reverse threaded, that is, counter-clock to tighten, clock-wise to loosen. Dave

There's usually a groove cut in the nut to identify it as reverse thread. Most Yamahas are if that is the original perch.

my mirror is stock Yamaha. There are notches around the middle so I gave it the needed force and the mirror came loose. You are both correct! Thanks for taking the time to answer a small question!
