I have an 80g with a right side stripped plug threads. So I,ve been putting teflon tape or plastic bags or whatever I find to tighten it up. It lasts for about 30 miles or so. But lately my right side plug has been fouling when I sit at stop lights. And then it will fire off. So I've got a head coming to me and I was wondering is there any difference in the head that means you have to use a certain set of carbs? My 80 has 38s and my 81 has 34s. Oh yeah my exhaust has holes in it. Especially the right side. Should have an exhaust coming soon or I'm gonna fab one up. Thanks for any info the xs gurus have for me.

'80's came with BS34's, stock. It was the first year for them.
The difference would be carbs boots. The 38's and 34's are diffferent.
One problem is that the head and cover should be from the same set. Mix matching is not advised due to them being a matched pair.

When you ordered the head, you should get both the head and rocker box. They are machined as a set. Mis matched head and rocker box may work, but miore likely you will get oil leaks, possibly binding of the cam bearings.
