I've removed the four bolts and the cable is free from the battery. I've turned the starter every witch way from Wednesday and it doesn't want to fall. Do I need to remove the cable from the starter to get just a little more clearance? Thanks.

Did you remove the little gear train cover under the front sprocket and pull the gear that ties the starter to the engine? Maybe it's making the starter bind and hang up in there.

If you're yanking the starter altogether you can pull all those gears out as an assembly and put them in a bag. Saves you another pound or two.

My Daddy would say you're not holding your mouth right.

I don't know, sometimes starters are a bear and other times they seem to fall out. And putting them back in can be the same.
