Is there any way to get to the inside of the tach and speedo?

I was thinking it would be cool to take the speedo and tach apart and customize them. My plan would be to take the needles off and scan the image of the numbers into the computer. Then I would make my own custom design and have everything stay in the same place. I would print them out on some nice UV resistant matte paper.

I was thinking it would be cool to have a ferrari'ish tach & speedo.

I have had my gauges apart before but I didn't see any way to get inside of them.

650skull recently posted a way of getting in, and reusing the old bezel. Pamcopete has posted a way of using large dia. shrink tubing as a new bezel.

Be careful how you deal with the needles; first off they're brittle, but mainly they have a preset, some tightness of their spring to start with. It's hard to get it back in the same place, and if you don't it will read quite a bit low or high. The best way to handle that might be to make a very thin mark on the spindle they push on to?
