The 11 litre "Special" tank is smaller than the 15 litre "Standard" tank. I suspect that is what you are referencing? The "Special" tank has the gas cap slightly off to the right side from the rider's perspective. The "Standard" tank gas cap is in the centre.

Yamaha never put "mag" wheels on the XS series, guys--there's no magnesium in that cast aluminum alloy. They're boat anchors, way heavier than the spoked wheels with aluminum rims. If you swap 'em out you'll feel the difference right away.
