jet pilot oring

I am changing jets on BS38 carbs. I see on the jet that there is 2 small grooves. Are there supposed to be Orings?

pawing threw my collection of jets, I see no grooves on any pilot jets. the only oring would be around the seat of the jet nozzle the needle rides in.
