I suspect these are related.
The kind of back story was the grandsons used this as a learn to be a mechanic bike. I suspect that project came to a screeching halt. Literally.
MC demo is hard work, so I ran a tank of gas through the Stihl .

I'm so random, bottom of this wheel was sunk into dirt.
Mostly the blue dico wheel and mineral spirits, about an hour's work.
followed with black compound/buffer for the brake plate.
drum was REALLY crusty, will be fine now..

I smacked my head the day I made that mistake.
tree work mixed in, Allison puts her back into it! She rolled all those rounds uphill through the fence line for me to split.
This bike is a Heritage special wearing mag wheels. prolly 83 cuz it's not all blacked out
83 has a black front engine mount. 81 is chrome.

Can you post before pictures of under the cover? Lol. Kinda nasty looking under there.
10 minutes with Solvol and a dirty rag will sort it.
I bet the brushes aren't rusty...
