I am not sure what I did or likely didnt do. My kick lever will not stay up after the bike is running. I plan on changing the oil tomorrow and will open the side cover. What am I looking for? Any help is appreciated.

btw...the project is done. I hope to get some pics up this week. :D

spring could be broke, or if you were in there, and it worked before, you didnt preload the return spring.

Ask your doctor if Viagra is right for you? :) sorry... Couldn't resist!

Just had mine apart during a full rebuild. I think angus67 is right to suspect the spring, cuz there isn't really anything else about that system that puts the shaft back to its upright position. You can get that whole apparatus off fairly easily with th cover off and it should be obvious if the spring broke. If not, try reinstalling with the spring tight.

I had the same issue when I opened the clutch side.. Angus67 is probably right about you not pre loading the spring right.... It's a pain but you'll get it.

Ditto the above re pre-loading the spring. It's actually quite easy if you follow the steps in the service manual.

Yes I did not have spring preloaded.:banghead: I felt pretty stupid after opening the cover and seeing the spring there. I am sure I meant to set it but  Thanks for the info guys!
