kick starter wont turn

hey guys i just bought a 1981 xs650 special with 8,000 original miles new coil, battery ,tires and helmet for $ 750.00 good shape starts right up every time and runs good , however the kickstarter will not budge could this be the spring ? i am going to change the oil over to rotella soon would that be a time to check out the kick starter ? or would i have to drain the oil to do it another time ? thanks

Yep, bike needs to be in neutral. Clutch engaged. Lever not pulled.

yes the dumb part was having to drain the oil !! lol ! what can i say ! hey nj 1639, you're from the area ? as soon as i find something out i will let you guys know !, gotta little storm coming I gotta deal with first !
