If I recall, at some point the XS650 swingarm got about 2 inches longer than that which is on my '73 TX650. Two questions:

  1. Could someone tell me what year this happened?
  2. Will my shocks stretch and fit, or will I need to swap those for a later model, as well?
  3. Anything else I'll need / should know for the swap?

Thanks!
Adam

Alright, after a looooooooooong time of googling, I have confirmed via an old ass forum post that the swingarm is 1.5" longer and interchangeable. Now I'm just going to have to out what year they switched, I'm thinking '74.

Yes, 74, they did the swing arm the same year they redesigned the frame. The early swing arms are a loop where the axle goes thru. The later models where that way too the 74 up to ? The swing arm has a U shaped fork where the axle goes thru with a block that bolts in that the axle adjuster bolt pushes on. The 74 and up I think are a bit wider where the axle goes thru. The early axles are a bit shorter.
