Get some dogbone risers and put them in so they face forward (not pull back) it will help the bars and girder look visually more connected.
Then the bars won't look squashed in between it & the tank and will put more back lean on the bars more in keeping with the lines.

Well that's what I'm going to do. Also more 70's flava:bike:

Add a nice set of upsweep pipes and your there.

Here's my beater:
83 XS engine
74 Kawasaki Paugho chopper frame
79 Kawasaki rolling stuff
This photo was when I was trying some dirt bike bars. Too wide.

Got a set of clubman bars from Mikes XS just before Daytona bike week. Rode from the Gulf coast to St Augustine.....shoulders and arms were killing me! (I'm 76 YO)
Saturday down to Daytona, back up to St Augustine. Sunday back down to Daytona for a couple of hours then back across the state to home. I went beyond hurting

Clubmans cool for local riding, but I'll ditch them for any more long hauls I may make !!

Motel in St Augustine, modeling my 1960's Bell helmet for the kids:laugh:

Just stock now with Hugh's solid risers and waiting on a set of Bonneville Bars to replace the "Bucks". Got it a few weeks ago in driving condition.

Love the thick seat!

Hello, again! Thanks for the comment! I actually went for a ride today(temps were in the 70"s, so why not!) and it rode straight and true! Little knocking on the left side, dont know what it is, could be bearing or too cold oil. Seemed to go away as the ride progressed, have to check oil feed. But other than that,(and a couple of backfires as i let off the throttle, low-grade gas, all I can afford now!LOL!) it ran great! Brakes, accellaration, turning, steady ride on a 36-year-old bike! Can't really complain! Now for paint, PAMCO ignition(which I have all the peices, I just need a timing light to get it set once i install it, paydays coming!lol!), new tires(payday install again!), title, registration, insurance, fresh oil,....It just never seems to end! LOL! Well, you guys warned me about the "vintage thing", and I knew what I was getting into! Not the first old bike I've built! Anyway, THANKS to all of you, especially to guys like PamcoPete, and you, dude, for your help, guidance, advice and continuing support! Twins Rule! Keep the Shiny Side Up, and God Bless all of you!:bike::thumbsup::D

Tank jockey linkage and brake points welded in. Few more minor touches before strip and paint.

Hah realized this doesn't have the brake points.. :)

Geezerman, that's awesome-you're awesome.

Maybe we'll see you in Daytona next year, we haven't been in a couple of years and its about time.

John

Well here it is folks - my fong inspired chop. All garage built at home - including the 277 rephase etc. Fully registered & on the road, brings a smile to my dial every time I ride it, electrics box still to be installed. Been to our local shop about 5 times & every time someone has pulled me aside to ask or talk about the bike, one guy even took some photos. Enjoy....

Some builders try to design flex into their rigid frames, some frames flex even if not intended but you can bet that frame won't flex. Looks good... and hard.
