Loctite on damper rod bolt?

I don't, they are bad enough to remove without it. In general I'm not a locktite fan though.

Yamaha used some sort of sealer or Locktite on them originally. I just assemble with the remnants of that stuff still on there.

I just put mine back together and used "liquid teflon/pipe dope" The first time I did lowers I didnt put anything on there and left the remnants of factory stuff and had no problem for 2 years. I only took them apart again to swap lower legs.

Thanks guys, I'm goin' with blue. I won't live long enough to need to rebuild these again! Incidentally, this has probably been done before but I found a great way to remove the seals. Just cut a 12.25" length of 1" hardwood dowel and dropped it in the lower tube then pried against that with a miniature Vaughan 5" flat bar. Seals popped right out and I never touched the edge of the lower with the little bar.

Thanks again,

roy
