I would like to find a front wheel (17" or 18") that fits within the XS650 forks. I know I could have the hub respoked, but that is a bit pricey. I'm hoping someoe knows a doner bike with a suitable wheel I could source on ebay or CL.

- SR500 uses the same forks and has 18in wheels in both drum and disc versions

Up front Im using XS650 rear rims laced to drums.
Tried an SR500 wheel once but if I remember rightly it was a bit skinny (the rim , that is) compared to the XS wheel

SR500...1.85 x 18 also had 1.85 x 19....XS650...1.85 x 19

- some other possibilities for smaller wheels all using the same inner diameter bearing sizes of 6xx3 17mm front and 6xx4 20mm rear

TRX850...................96-01...............6203.........6204...17in
YZF600R Thundercat.96-03...............6203.........6204...17in

- other wheels with the same axle sizes, fr and rear, that may be worth looking at, but not necessarily 17in could be

XS500C;D;E;F 75-80
XS750...........77-82
XVZ1200TD Venture

- these bikes have 17mm front axles but only 15mm or17mm rear axles, it is possible bearings could be matched to fit the 20mm rear XS650 axle

RD350A;B...........73-75 .. 18in
RD400C;D;E;F.....76-79 .. 18in
SR500...18 and 19in front, 18in rear
SZR600..............96-97 .. 17in
XJ600S Diversion..92-03 .. 17in fr-18in rear
XJ600N...............95-03 .. 17in fr-18in rear
XJ900S Diversion..95-03 .. 17in
XVS650 Dragster..97-03 .. fr 18in-rear 15in wide

- dont expect wheel swaps to be bolt-out bolt-in, rim width, spacers, brakes, speedo calibration etc will all be issues

inxs...Great information.

I'm "visiting" this subject at present. We'll see how it turns out. May just replace a sad front OEM 19" with a New one, then change the rotor, then change... Hmmm. Decisions, decisions.

have what i believe may be a SR500 18" cast wheel- find now that with the the 650 speedo drive and disc "side" spacers fitted that i appear to have a gap of about 19mm on the disc side-with the speedo drive engaged and the wheel is not obviously centred- has anyone done this before- and if so any deatils of how to centre the wheel appreciated-alternatively delete the speedo drive & use electronic from Mikes
