low beam, reserve lighting device question

Hi,
Nathan Lovern here. I got my 82 XS650 from Ny last week and changed the motors out and when going through everything i thought my low beam was out on my headlight but when i rev the motor up low beam will come on and the white lihght will come on and the low beam will flicker and be dim.
Highbeam seems ok. Ive read that i can toss the RLD and cross some wires.
Any advice?

You can remove the rld but are you sure it's what causes the problem you see? I did remove my rld, because I couldn't find out what it does when it fails - I don't want it to fail and kill both beams. You remove it and jumper two wires. Go to 650garage and search and you'll soon find a thread on it.

Take your headlight out and check to see if both beams work, sounds like low beam burned out.
