Traditional LEDs use a max of 20ma, but are often configured to use 10ma. So, at 12v, with a current limiting resistor, expect anywhere from 1/8 to 1/4 watt.

Traditional incandescents are 3 watt. At 12v, that's 1/4 amp...

Can you please explain/describe the current limiting resistor?

Apparently LED's draw too much current by themselves and can have a short life from current/voltage spikes or something. Whenever I see a circuit there is always a resistor with an LED.

I found this article but it doesn't help me with some of my LED's that I wasn't given specs on.

I was assuming I would just pick an amperage and aim for that. 10mA sounds good I guess!
 
Actually, I think the original bulbs were rated at 3.4 watts, not that it would make much difference.
