morris magneto!

hey my morris magneto is not getting spark through the leads and plugs, but will make a spark when i lay a piece of wire across the cover outputs any ideas why it isn't making spark through the leads???

to the best of my knowledge it should make spark even if the timing is out yeah?

Assuming that the wires, caps and plugs are good, are you testing with a 'closed' loop?
Electricity needs a full path, otherwise you've got an 'open' connection.
(Unless you're working with hyper-voltage stuff that discharges into the atmosphere.)

So, when testing with the plugs out of the engine, make sure that their steel bodies are electrically connected to each other. Could just lash them together with a rubber band or such...
