I have reported on this small local show before. One year 4 XS650's showed up, and vintage bikes form the largest group of attendees.
New, better location this year in the main fair area. Groton Old Home Days. Tomorrow. Good weather. Be there.

In 2017 my '76 took first in Class. However, it looks like there isn't any competition this year, just a show.

Very nice. Where did you get that seat from?

Report from the Groton show:

I've been prodding the organizer (an XS650 owner) for years to get a better venue at this local event, and he finally did so this year.
There was an excellent BBque truck on site and a small live country/rock band.
The venue is now in the heart of the fair and activity.
However, there are still issues to be sorted out, so I'm going to continue to "influence" Lee, who puts a lot into getting this gathering together.

Here are a few of the bikes that showed.
I brought my '75, which you can see in the background of the first pic.

My friend Gary Allen's Norton, which you've seen before:
He just rebuilt the entire engine himself.

If only I had read this thread 24 hours earlier. I live up between Auburn and Syracuse (Jordan, to be exact) and I would have been there with my '80 Special. And Saturday I rode with a group and we stopped and Bob's Barbeque in Homer. So close...

Any chance you with the group that pulled in about when a black and yellow CanAm Ryker and a sidecar outfit were leaving? We were parked on the paved area near the cash registers.

Next year, Wirenut !! :bike:

I'm in Marietta.

We also had a Can-Am Ryker with us. I didn't see a sidecar rig, I would have remembered that. There was me on my black 80SG, a Triumph, a Victory and the Cam-Am. We parked on the paved area closer to the dirt lot.

Must have been a different group then. The Ryker is wife's new toy to ride when not riding her Vespa GTV.

I just checked my timeline on Google maps and we were there from 12:31 until 1:38. Curious as to when you guys were there. This was us at the Onondaga county line, at the Skaneateles Lake overlook. I'm taking the picture, so my SG is sitting there all lonely.

If you show up next year, tell me ahead of time, and I'll drive my '83, and I'll get someone to ride my '82 to the event.

This would make 3 XS650 Specials in the show.

Then, if Lee the organizer gets his '83 together (don't hold your breath), this would make four XS650's.

Further , if Ken (kshansen, above) should actually put his XS650 on the road (again, don't hold your breath) and shows up to the event, this would make FIVE XS650's in the event.

Imagine that.

By then, I'll have my '76 done and I'll have someone ride one of mine, or I'll trailer them both. I'll even throw my so-far-non-running '78S on there. 4 Specials and one standard. Plus the organizer's '83 and kshansen and we'll have SEVEN XS650's! Be still my heart! That's probably half the XS650s in CNY in one spot! (Well, no, probably not...) Below is my '76 right now. :-( I finally got it to a point I could ride it, and found out that first gear jumped and skipped. Opened the cases and found the dog pockets on the first gear output were beat to s**t, the dogs on the fourth gear were equally beat to s**t, and the fourth gear fork was worn out badly. I have 3 spare engines, one of which has a brand-new-looking transmission, so that's the donor of the good parts I need. Right now, I'm waiting for one of MikesXS taller 5th gears to get here (out for delivery today) and I'll start reassembling. Added a photo of what she looked like 24 hours before the first pic.
