Per request I'm starting a thread on my first build... 1980 XS650. Take it easy on me guys like I said I'm New!

Im building the one with no tank and sold the silver one to finance the build I ordered the bones from TC Bros and am building the rest myself in a cold ass Wisconsin garage. Any input would be great, but in my head this is going to be awesome, everything gloss black including the engine, tins will be satin. My hope is the only chrome will be the valve stems.

Thanks

No progress today... Spent the whole day stripping a 79 I bought just to get a wheel spacer. Anybody need anything??

Update.... Slowly but surely. I own a lawncare/snow biz and there is nothing to right now so garage time it is! Feedback/Ideas??

So here's an update... All the fab work is done and all welds have been filled and smoothed. Due to a lack of infor on using rear disc I bought a MikesXS master and am using a TC drum pivot to make it work with the forwards. Everything has a mounting bracket and its own spot. I built the rear fender support for $5. Instead of having the rear tank hold down through the frame I added threaded tabs... Stay tuned

I like the RIMS, was thinking of re-painting and polishing my rims. Maybe I will skip the RE-POLISH !
The rims were a piece of cake... I had them sandblasted and shot them with single stage implement (tractor) paint. Kind of a secret weapon here in Wisconsin. The stuff is hard as steel, shiny and $6 a can.

Paint is all done... Hate to toot my own horn, but my frame is friggin amazing!
