My First Yamaha / 74 TXa650?

One thing on this bike is, although the inside of the gas tank is perfect, it appears that the tank may have been repainted, cause lots of orange peel, and I'm sure Yamaha's quality control would not have accepted that. So probably get it repainted.
Not sure what Colors were available in 74 other than the Cinnamon Brown.
Hopefully find out, thru this forum.

Found some pics of the "Vegas Green", First 2 will most likely be original paint. Third I'm not so sure as the bike looks to have had work done to it.

Not enough information. Need to know the first 3 numbers, (minimum) of the vin to be able to help........... 447 is not the first 3 no's..........447-******

fhoffman,
As far as US models, in 1974 there was no XS 650 , the early XS's although very popular had some handling problems and were being know for it. In 73 Yamaha changed the frame geometry as well as some other changes and re-designated the bike the TX650A. These bikes were made in 73 and 74 , then Yamaha when back to the XS designation again in 75. the 73 and 74 were available in only one color per year in the US. I'll attach a photo of the 74 TX650A in Cinimmon brown. In the top of the ad you will see a green tank, I believe this color was available outside the US.
The TX650A were made in low numbers so rare , and are great bikes . I have one that I restored, and it's a beauty.
As far as exhaust , none came with 2 into one, so likely yours has aftermarket exhaust.

You have no idea what you have unless your not telling us what you know. Your questions have no information and any answers relating to your questions are a guess at best.

447 prefix, and that is the prefix no not a Vin no, was on 16 models word wide and 4 US models included in that 16 You say its a 74 but the month, relating to the year, it was produced dictates the year/model of the bike................
