I was looking for an XS 650 project bike and ran across this. Not an XS for sure, but the seller was motivated. Almost all original, belonged to an old man for the last 24 years. 15,000 original miles. i will tag and sticker it today. Starts easy, runs great! 1971 Triumph 650 Tiger.

I've got a couple Peashooters that are used, to put on, and will freshen up the frame paint. I may flip it after I ride it a while. I was driving home with it when I realized I DONT HAVE ANY WHITWORTH WRENCHES to work on it with! Al the engine screws, bolts, etc are original, but it has has a electronic ignition and new primary chain and drive chain and sprockets installed recently.

That's great one, near enough to make a guy switch stripes.........

The scary thing is I wonder how long it will be before the "old man" is me?
Out on my mail route an old guy gets out his beautiful red GT380 and putters up and down his back road on it a few times a year. Then it goes back in the shed. One of these years one of em will stop "getting out" anymore.

I should have said, "older than Me".:(

For a 71 Tiger, I would imagine most the heads are American with just enough whitworths thrown in just to piss you off.

There was one like that for sale on a classified ads website for about two years. The bike had been restored in 2000 and was in excellent condition. Two week ago, I was thinking about selling my V-Star to buy it. When I looked at the ad, it was sold... It sure that my next bike will be a Triumph. Really nice find, great bike !!

Thanks, this bike was on Craigslist, with a tag of $5750!.........I think He scared everyone off. I went to look at it out of curiosity, but didnt make an offer. A week later He called me, I paid $3000. I have already had several offers on it. Hmmmmm.
