I am picking up my first xs650 today at 5 oclock. It is a 1971, original owner, 31,000 miles. starts on first or 2nd kick. needs a bit of work but nothing too crazy. I know it needs tires and a head light. but thats all easy stuff. I will show pictures as soon as i get her home.

and the kicker is its only costing me 500$. plus i get a spare tube for the front tire, an extra chain shop manual. all the receipts for everything he spent since 1971. Also 2 sets of oil for next oil changes.

pics to follow! :bike:

500?! Wow. People have paid more than that just for the pipes off one. I paid for $1700 for mine. But I love the old girl. Welcome to the 256 club!

Thanks a lot travis.

Here is my progress so far. I have it almost all stripped down. I just ordered my TCBros hard tail and handlebars today. I have to just chop the bottom rails and im ready to go. my buddy is going to come weld it for me once it comes in.

I have to pick a seat and tank but having no luck on normal sites ie: ebay/craigslist.... any ideas??? Im getting antsy to put it back together and start riding this thing!

Kidding, right?

Contact me about the stock parts you will not be using and would like to sell. Looking forward to hearing from you.

man thats a real shame to see a bike thats been loved all this time, just to be chopped. The sawzall company should hang its head in shame, it has a lot to answer for! PLEASE consider offering it for a trade with a later model (a special preferably) before you cut it to bits!

oh god what? You have a 99% complete xs1b there. It's a rare and reasonably valuable bike and all it needs is a bit of fresh paint and cleaning up before you could sell it for enough to make three or four xs650 choppers.

The frame's all ready chopped in pic 2. :(

I'm interested in any left over original part's you might want to get rid of to fund the bobber project. :D

PM sent.

I thought the same exact thing earlier .. Didnt want to be the one who broke that silence .. but in the end he owns it .. he can do whatever he wants to it :(

let us know when your going to be selling whats left

Looks like you've gone beyond the point of no return. Take good care of the parts you're not going to use, if they're in good shape you can probably sell them to mske back some money. Good luck with your build.

Glad I have everyone's love and support! Lol. I probably did make a mistake by chopping this one but u know I've been looking to buy one for a long time and they are not cheap. This one was. I hope you guys will still help me out on any questions even if we don't see eye to eye on this decision.

Anyway. All spare parts are for sale just message me and I'm sure we will work out a price.

Ya. Once they get over the initial shock and pick themselves up off the floor,,,they'll come back and lend you a hand. :D

This is really a great group of guy's. I'm sure they'll be able to answer all your question's.
