I been picking at this project as i get motivated. This is my first bike build. The bike didnt run but had compression so im not worried about it. This is a back burner project nothing flashy or fancy.
First mod was to tack on a david bird tail, 2 inch stretch 3 inch drop

Then it sat for awhile, had some other big projects to finish but drug them out too long. After cleaning and rearranging some shelves at the garage i saw how dusty my stack of parts were. Spent a few hours on the front end the other day. Resealed and dropped the forks, hugh's handbuilt spacers . After seeing how huge the mikes gaitors were i dug into my parts shelf. Vw mk2 golf steering rack boots are a good fit for gaitors i think the part number is 191 419 831 if my memory still works. Whipped up some bars from my stock set, still not sure about them.

I think i like the underside mount better. Need a seat and pegs before i figure it out. Next on the list is wheel relace and paint. 4.50-18 rear tire with mikesxs hoop and spokes, fronts just paint and replace the rusty spokes. Trying to get an idea on the stance, so far it works.

Wheels all finished. A wheel shop in nj (wheel works)is gonna true them and mount my tires. Old bike barn got me, a week after ordering my tires they let me know shipping wouldnt be free.
Got other stuff done like smoothed the trees and cutting tabs off the frame. This projects back on hold til my 73 tx650 is road ready, ordered just enuff to finish it this year i hope.

Since my 73 tx650 had to be pulled apart, i shipped out the crank and cam for rephase after finding some "extra parts" in my sump. Turns out the parts were not from my internals but hugh informed me my rods were shot. So while i waited for my shit to come back i worked on my 82. Made some 1 inch bars similar to the ones above, mounted the headlight, mounted the stock tank a lil higher on the frame. I thought it just needed some angle, and started to feel out a seat pan that works for me.
My sweet assembly stand from some scraps around the garage.

Powdercoat or paint.?

the new tank angle looks like its shrugging it's shoulders. Very dark, very cool, can't wait to see where you go with the motor.
