Hey guys. What is this phillips head bolt in the pic called? I have 2 that are stripped and I need to replace. I have studied the diagram in my clymer repai manuel, but I cant find it listed.

Ya, it holds the rockers. Don't remove it.

I'm taking the motor apart to clean and rebuild it so I have to. Any idea where I can find 2 replacements?

the rocker covers are the plates themselves I think. Not sure what the phillips head bolts are listed as.

The shaft itself looks like a lifter from a car engine.

Yeah. Thanks again bill. I just ordered the set of 4 new ones with allen heads from mikes.

tip: The allen head tappet screws for the valves are awesome. They are sooooo much nicer to use than the original.

when I rebiult my engine, I couldnt get one of those loose, so I just used alot of brake cleaner to clear out the oil passages. Any reason why u must take them out?

Not unless you wanted to remove/replace a rocker arm.
If you are replacing the tappet screws the elephant foot screws are a good choice but require modding the rocker arm.
