Her are some pic of the motor, that came off my uncle bike . He gave it to me about 20 yrs ago. The bike was a chopper. I've been on this site and have seen the nice bikes , so I decided to try and restore the bike and motor if possible. The number on the motor that I have seen are, R1-08157, and under the case it has 7683, and on the back of the motor it has 151. What does all this mean. I don't have the frame right now so I don't have the vin #. All help would be greatly appreciated.

Holy wow! Thats not an xs motor......I dont know what it is but a guess would say a very old 1000.....

Just a guess but it looks like one of those motors they put in the CS3's from the sixties. I think a lot of those bikes were in the 200-250cc range. Not a definitive answer but maybe a good place to start looking into.

^ Winner!

I believe this motor was the predecessor to the RD motors. However I know nothing about them.

I don't doubt that yours is faster and handles better than... But yours runs; I'm thinking that one DON'T! A much more loved project might be a better choice unless he has a pile of obsolete/unobtainable parts for restoration.

I think it's a YR-1 I believe they were 350 cc. YR-1 were the predecessor of the RD 350's If it is that would place it in the late 60's to early 70's. I remember them being very fast.
