new guy. 83 heritage special

hows everyone doing?? new to the site. bought a running 83 heritage special last fall. first bike. definitely have big plans for it in the future. i have been out here and there when its warm enough here in VA.

I'm having a couple small issues as of lately. looking for some guidance. the bike keeps shutting off as I'm riding. almost as if its stalling out while riding. i stop, kick it, and I'm gone until i decelerate again for the next stop. whats this issue sound like?

I cant help with that problem but I am sure someone will be along shortly and give you some ideas.
Only thing that comes to mind is not chargeing but then after awhile kicking it over wouldnt work.

Mine used to do that too.
I'd be looking into the carbs, air mix, syncing, idle setting etc. Search for 'dead cylinder method' and 'manometer'.

+1 air leaks, Check your fuse box it tends to just disintegrate, the fuse holders rot to dust. vacuum petcocks, vacuum lines, barbs. Any and all electrical connections, check your brushes.
