I just joined the site. Have bought a Yamaha 650 XS of ebay. My first Yamaha was a 1971 RD350. Very fast and fun to ride. Rode a friends 650 numerous times, really liked it. Currently have a 2007 Yamaha Road Star 1700, I converted it to a trike 2 years ago.
Currently converting a Honda Valkyrie 1999 Interstate to a trike.
The Yamaha 650 XS will be my bike for short trips. Still like just 2 wheels.

Thanks for letting me in.

Your 1st was probably an R5, not an RD. The RD came out in 1973, but they look similar and it's a common misconception. I had an R5 in 72, fast and fun.

Remember it was brand new, bought it in jan. 1971 from Lake Hill Motors Corinth MS

Total cost was $455. It was faster than the brakes. Kept it 2 years. Should have kept it.

It arrived late Friday, undamaged from transport.

Runs with choke out, carbs need a kit and perhaps jetting up just some.
