I bought a NOS 1984 XS650 Heritage Special in 1986 and I still have it.
Here's my 1989 wedding photo
Since then I have done the usual mods of installing tapered roller headraces and bronze swingarm bushings.
Also, replaced the rototiller bars, some few tries at that, too low, too high, just right.
For me, that's bars from a '72 Suzuki GT750.
Replaced the Special tank with one from a Standard because it's a long way between gas stations in the prairies.
Hooked an American Spirit sidecar to it in 2007. S/C was too heavy for the rig to safely keep up to traffic so swapped the S/C onto an XS11 in 2008.
I recently bought a collision-damaged Velorex S/C and will try sidecarring the XS650 again with this (far lighter) unit.
The XS11 rig is The Flying Pumpkin because it's painted Astro Towtruck Orange.
As I'm too cheap to do a colour change on the Velorex' undamaged paint job the XS650 rig will be The Silver Bullet.
