I purchased a 77 XS650 last month and it should be delivered next week. There is only so much conveyed in pictures and brief back and forth emails so I am going into this blind. I have done a few auto engine rebuilds over the years and always did my own M/C maintenance since 82 when a dealer stripped sparkplug threads on my XJ650RJ, I did own a very nice '78 XS650 in 79-80 but crash and relocation separated me from it. I bought the attractive Blue and black and white tracker off of classifieds. I assume I will know the ignition system by removing the cam covers and finding either points or a trigger system. BS34 or BS38 by the vacuum chamber covers. What else do I need to consider? Aside, I am Kevin. I sign into new sights with the name of my sail boat for annonyminity . I do that because some user/enthusiast sites can be caustic, but I have not seen that here in any form.
