Arkansas spring Rally and Tennessee fall Rally are fabulous riding and company. @Ben1 and I want to do some closer to home 2 or 3 day rides. I am 1 1/2 hours from the upper peninsula. Ben1 coming from Mankato is 4 or so hours to a point I could meet him somewhere in the UP maybe further west. Assuming we both headed north to meet on a Thursday for 2 -3 day of riding, where should we go. We are thinking cheap Ma and Pa hotels, minimum of luggage and riding leisurely routes.

Plenty up there but a lot of it is separated by long straight roads.
Order a Lake Superior Circle Tour guide. covers a lot of the UP
The attractions are mostly nature/scenery and or old time industry relics/museums
The west end to middle stuff
In no order. the Keweenaw Peninsula
Duluth
Apostle Islands
Porcupine Mountain State Park
The TWAT, that'll keep you entertained on XS's
There's about 15 various waterfall parks.
Interstate Peace Park.
Sounds like fun!

Pictured Rocks. I did that cruise and found it worthwhile.

Our thoughts are meandering over to Mackinac bridge and into northern Michigan. Meander defines not having a fixed schedule or destination. There is plenty to distract us in the UP and northern MI may be another trip.

Gary i don't know if the old man wants to recreate an "on any Sunday scene" on the red bike riding the TWAT :D anyone interested in joining us?

Maybe wander the Keweenaw Penninsula one day and then head east along the Lake Supreior shore. If weather is out of the northwest the shore route will be lake effect cool and an inland meandering route might be better.
