Not even an XS part ...

Be advised,.. RD owners have more $$$$ than sense. I know from experience. Unfortunately several of my '74 and '75 XS650 and RD350 parts are the same and most every time they come up on Ebay the sell price is usually 200% or more than you'd expect to pay. Like $83.00 for the two little ($4.60 dealer price) rubber grommets that mount the tail light to the bracket. WOW!! Course they are obsolete but I was able to later find 4 at a dealer.

that's UK ebay too... heavy money (pounds) and reads kilometric rpms instead of mile rpms and reads from the righthand drive (wrong side of the road) posistion

Were MPH here jayel, always will be :)

We Americans were quite right-leaning in the beginning! Many still are! Those leaning left are destined for a head-on collision with history repeating itself (USSR anyone?)

you prefer nazi's ?

the lesson of history is don't lean too much either way or you will fall over

Certainly NOT! If you study anything on the Nazi Party, and it's socialist agenda prior to the war, you will find that it was deeply socialist. Read Hitler's writing, and you will see that he knew he ad to control the poulation, and the information they received in order to execute his agenda. Much the same thing is taking place in our own society now, and it is clear to those who have studied history.

I actually prefer 1985. The right Leader, with the right ideas, at the right time, in the right place. Everyone agreed. 88% of the popular vote in a General Election?

God help us, America has changed so much for the worse since then!

Unfortunately old money had more to do with who was in the House and Senate then, and more could not be done.

Of course when you study history simply to bolster your current world view that is what you will find, but here's what wikipedia sez about the nazi party:

The party was founded out of the current of the far-right racist völkisch German nationalist movement and the violent anti-communist Freikorps paramilitary culture that fought against the uprisings of communist revolutionaries in post-World War I Germany.[8] The party was created by Anton Drexler as a means to draw workers away from communism and into völkisch nationalism.[9]

-------------------------------
While the Nazi propaganda machine would say pretty much anything, and certainly started off spouting anti-capitalist rant. It dropped all that and aligned itself with what we would now call a "Military Industrial Complex" when it came into power.

I think that I'm on safe grounds when I say that most historians consider all of the WWII Axis govenments to be examples of the Far Right, and generally class them as "fascist"

That word is from the Roman symbol of a battle axe with a bunch of sticks wrapped around it. For the Fasicsts that symbolized a govenment with the military at its center and a collation of industry, banking and other interests supporting it, i.e. the military is the heart of the government in such a system

It is generally characterized by a lack of value for individual rights and freedoms, a hightened sense of Nationalism and the use of the military to expand the economic interests of the coungtry.

In my view those charactrerstics are also current political trends in this country, but there is a neo-fuedalism (expansion of the power of an ownership class) that is more akin to British Imperialism.

There is an argument to be made in favor of Imperialism, though few on the Left would make it and few on the Right would admit to buying into it.

As to the money in the Congress, well its still there.

And while myths have their power, the fact is that Ronald Reagan ran up the greatest debt in this nations history, transforming the country into a borrower nation, a status we have kept to this day.

We do agree that things have gotten worse. I guess history will tell us which of our perspectives is closer to the truth.

....This tacho was once installed in Hitlers staff car,...Now I understand the value placed upon it....

Since you are a fan of the wik:

You really should read volume 2. You will soon find that the founder's views were not exactly in line with those of the man that took over the party, and melded it into his own. No different than a sect of Christianity reading their own interpretation of Bible verse to satisfy the agenda they have in mind.

And I do believe that at the time of WWII, Germany and Italy were most definately DICTATORSHIPS. We don't need to go back 2000 years to define it.

And yes, we out-spent the Soviet Union, and we WON!

It's a sad state of affairs that the "me" generation had (has) no remote idea what to do with our affairs, and the only answer they can find is to try to raise everbody's taxes so they have more money to burn, but do so without pissing off ANY minority faction in the country.

What "Historians" do you assert find right wing politics Facist, and what is the political affiliation they claim? The Revisionists?

Also, it was called a military industrial complex back then as well, and nobody spends more time on haves versus have-nots than the left in this country.

I am not a have, or a have not. I work for haves, so I can have a little. The have-nots are mostly the dependent class of turds who think they have not because the big 'ol gubmint hasn't taken enough away from the haves and given it to them!

The department of the Interior, Parks and Wildlife folks, tell us not to feed the animals, because they will become dependent, and not fend for themselves, yet our social services do the same thing to humans.

Tell me that makes sense to you. Please.

I'm a professional (got more degrees than a thermomter) but I'm not in that "haves" club (darn it). So the welfare abuses that really get my attention are things like corn and oil subsides and tax codes that let GE pay zilch on billion dollar profits. The "haves" own the government and they write the laws accordingly. I really don't worry about some crack-whore getting an extra slice of cheese.

You align yourself with the wealthy, that is usually a good strategy and things are looking good for your side in the class war. Both presidential candidates, the Congress, and the Supreme Court are clearly with that team.

But don't be too sure that THEY think that you are one of them. Or that their policies won't hurt you.

I would suggest that you consider the old saying "be carefull what you wish for."

Yep., I can't change the world from my corner of Texas without a nuke or around a BILLION dollars to buy me a President, but I can bitch with the best of 'em.

I have ZERO degrees ( a thermometer has that one too!), but I am concerned with the crack whore getting my tax money. We are in violation of the rules, so I abstain from further comment.

I suspect that we are in agreement on many things ( I'm a big fan of the XJ line e.g. )

It is a shame that what side of the political fense we choose to be on determines so much.

Peace.

Hey Burns and JD, send the crack whore up here to Barackistan, also known as the socialist state of VT. We have some of the best welfare hand outs in all the land. I've been to tea parties in VT and DC and i've come to the conclusion that you can't manage 300 million people from one location in DC. The system is broken and it needs to be split up into republics (with a little "r"). Maybe 10 or so based on ideology and geography. Let people vote with their feet, leave the blue blood, bleeding heart liberals in New England and let hard working capitalists go elsewhere. I think I'd like Texas if you have room:thumbsup:

I got to Texas from Kentucky myself! I'm working in Maine right now, and the local cops are giving people shit for being "in-state" for over 30 days without changing residency. Guess they don't have temporary contract labor up here much. After a bit of explaining, I think they get it! If I am not a full time employee, and I do not lease or buy a residence, I am TEMPORARY. Even the damned IRS allows that you can be temporary for up to a year! This welfare-laden hole is pretty crazy. Can't wait 'til I've reached my financial goal, and I can get out of here. I love the job, but man, I wish this thing was in TEXAS!

P.S. We got Ted Nugent out of Michigan!

I'm "bread and buttered" in the Lone Star State but I'm in the Puget Sound area now (the Great NorthWet) IMHO Austin Texas is the only place worth livin' in. They got over-educated Liberals (like me) and Orange-blooded Super-Capitalist elbo-to-elbo watchin' theUT co-eds strut.

50 republics, I'm afraid would quickly become 50 wholly owned subsidiaries of some Corporation or other.

I think we should all embrace the New Manifest Destiny and seek a one-world government: the United States of Earth! Just think of the money we would save if we had the only military on the planet.

Wow dude, I've heard of "you people"! One World, Huh? Man, I respect your right to an opinion, but I just can't be "one" with people who order their wives to kill the babies they just gave birth to because they are female.
I don't want to make it sound like our society is perfect (FAR from it), but there are still some SAVAGE cultures on the face of the big blue ball I'd just as soon leave over there, and not "meld" with.
I was a much bigger fan of Mutually Assured Destruction than the new manifest destiny.
And you know, we would still have a ruling class controlling all the money, public and private, and those of us tinkering with 40 year old motorcycles would not be among them. The status quo sucks, but MOST of the alternatives are worse in my opinion!
Cheers! Have a beer and tell a few stories, and give the heady thinking to someone else. I used to Ditto and what not, but I started listening to music that makes me happy, be it happy music or not, and I'm a happier person.
