i have a replacement triple tree on my 77D, it has stoppers on it that dont work at all, does anyone know what i can do besides welding some new stoppers on my head tube? is there a bolt on solution? ive used it this was for over a year since i rebuilt my totaled bike.

Is the tree from a 74 up xs650. The 70-73 had a shorter stem and won't fit the later bikes. In 74 when they upgraded the frame they went with a longer neck. From there on up all the stems where the same length and will inter change. Just besure that the top tree uses the same size forks as the lower tree.
There was one change in the trees. The early bikes had the fork lock on the neck with a slot in the stem for the lock. On the later bikes they moved the lock up in the key switch. When they did this they quit putting the slot in the stem.
