hey guys just looking for some input on this, just bought a 1972 xs all stock just looking to put a cafe seat on it and cruise, that way i can put it all back to stock if i want to, these are listed from 74 and up to fit. im curious as to why it wouldnt fit, only reason i could think this that the tank is alittle longer but then the seat would just slide alittle bit back. seem like it should work i want to end up looing like this fellow member! thanks !

I have the same seat, you have an interesting problem. I had the opposite problem on my 80 SG, the stock tank was to far forward and there was a 3 inch gap between the tank and the seat. I thought it strange but I dismissed it since I put a XS750 Triple tank and it fit perfectly, which was the plan all along. So is the tank on the frame seated correctly and same with the seat itself, i know that's obvious but hell I do silly things to at times.

Because your tank and frame are different then the 74+.
