One up or one down, sprocket questions !

Now if I could just get the weight off of me. I can't really take the cut off wheel and de-tab myself.
1 tooth at the countershaft is ~6%. Pretty much the same as 2 teeth at the wheel. Find that 6% in your jetting.:) Or remember that we don't have race bikes each gear lasts 6% longer...

Speak for yourself. I identify as Kenny Freakin' Roberts, Only 6' tall, 200+ lbs and zero talent.
 
My bike originally had 17/40 combo; a wheelie machine with dental robbing vibes at it 45 mph max speed!

Now sporting 17/33 which I find a perfect combination for take off and cruising.

Yes, I also like 17-33 on an 18" wheel. I think it's ideal for this motor and matches it's power output very well. This gearing is not too high but not too low. It's what Yamaha put on the European bikes.
