If you have a tight fit in the slots, and the timing is correct at idle and at full advance, then a new replacement will not gain you anything.
Its been reported that the new ATU's form Mikesxs do not fit very well, with respect to the axial shaft clearance. You may need to compensate with a shim. You can do a "Search" if you want more info.
