So guys, I got a set of these Steel Cast, Chrome plated lowering kits for the 650 from a friend of mine, who got it from another friend of EFMC. Old and rare... Sadly.....I found one of them over the winter cracked or something, I'm not really sure, but the one side you see here welded was a small crack that was about 75% across. So I had a local guy try to TIG weld it (I'm guessing that's what he tried). anyone think it's still fixable by a master welder? I wanted to fix it, sand blast it, powder coat it black...to hide the fix basically...

This is the left side if I recall, which it why it says L.F. on the bottom because im pretty sure the other one says R.F. I'll check later, and also see if i can find the packaging i packed away.

If any one on this forum can find the left one, or another set. I'd be willing to do some of my carving work or pinstripe work for free. give you one of my paintings, and still pay $100. which is all i can afford at this moment....I'm honestly trying to replace it because i was extremely sad to find it cracked, it was a very special gift to me... I cried a little actually (and freaked the fuck out), this lowering kit was so special to me that I would only explain how I obtained them in person, it was like the hidden diamond on my chopper because almost no one has these anymore and i felt special as fuck to have it given to me IN THE ORIGINAL PACKAGING WITH THE INSTRUCTIONS!!. Ask you friends?

help? Please?

It could still be repaired, it needs to be redone by someone who is better at welding is all. The break needs to be completely filled , and the weld should be more than flush with the surrounding surface, then it can be ground flush for appearance. I’d take it to a local welding shop, they probably wouldn’t charge much. Or at least take it to a more experienced friend. Good luck.

I would find a chassis shop as they are normally experienced welders and I'm sure they can repair. If there are none local to you if you find a reputable one I don't see why they wouldn't accept it via mail and mail it back.
