Is there a hub for a disc brake set up on a 36 spoke Akront (high shouldered) rim? I am eliminating the front brake... I know, but it's my ass...... and would like to run a disc rear.. or if thats not an option, are there better rear shoes available than the squealing fading POS's that I got from MikesXS?

btw, no other rim is an option... at all.

You can use a stock front hub with Omar's conversion kit. Loads of other hubs from other makes/models that can be adapted, but Omar's kit is probably the most direct route.

These guys are supposed to be the shtz for brakes. http://www.vintagebrake.com/drum.htm

It's not the parts so much as turning the drum and shoes so you have a full contact patch. And the brake cam shaft needs to be disassembled, cleaned, buffed, lightly greased for free smooth action. A Yamaha TX750 rear drum is a fair amount larger than the XS650 rear drum, the complete wheel is bolt on to the XS650. it has an 18" mud catcher rim like the 74-79 XS650 roadsters.
