Rear Tire Size For Hardtails

Hey guys going to start chopping soon. I want to put as big a rear tire on the stock mag that will fit would like to go old school tires like firestone 500/16 any Ideals.

This is a 140/90-16 on my stock mag. It's about as wide as you can go, 1/4" from the chain. I think Gordon Scott ran a 5.00 on his bike. Scott's is on the bottom.
