I've got a less-than-5ohms alternator rotor thats laying around, and a few other parts that have a bit of copper in them.

Can I recycle these as is or do I need to rip them apart for the copper? Anyone ever do this, and if so how much did you get?

If it is a elec. ign. rotor it may be worth more as an exchangable core than scrap copper and steel. Say to someone who has used a gear puller on the rotor and pulled the clam shells apart. Or someone who has mixed the screws for the brushes and scarred the ring face.

I'm not sure but I think Custom rewinds buys old rotors. Call and see. 1-800-798-7282

Gary at custom rewind said no. They prefer to buy those with the magnets.

So there you go, Leo, a practically free rotor coming your way! Just take mine out of the box and put yours into it, then send it to Custom Rewinds.
