Went to open the gas cap today and the key will not turn. Just trying to get some help on how to get the cap off. Key goes in but will not turn. Thanks for any help.

....................... hi have you tried flooding the lock mechanism with rp7 which will remove all the junk in the lock set up,,, and wash it out as well,,,,or you could try a .020" thous feeler gauge and it will be strong enough to slip aroung the inside edges and the tank and spring the lock that way regards oldbiker

tried creole in the lock until it ran down the tank. No luck but will keep trying. Thanks old biker.

push down on the cap while turning the key.

+1 you have to push the cap down firmly then turn the key. If not just that use a bit of wiggle and rock action on the key. If that doesn't get it, latch can be released from under the cap with a homemade tool better that and dissect the lock than break off a key and still have to pick the latch. A new cap seal is almost always a good idea.
