Removing ignition unit? xs650 or 850

So, I have a friend that has decided to rewire his xs850. rewired ignition system and tried to start, and NOTHING. Cranked but no spark. We have tried everything, but nothing. The charging system is not hooked up. Could that cause a problem? Any ideas of common screw ups would be awesome. Thanks

Lot of good people on that site that may be able to give you some assistance. Be prepared to give more details as to what your friend did exactly when he made the wiring changes.

Go to the Workshop on the Triples site, and then the electrical subcategory, there will be a link to a wiring diagram.

Check to see if you have voltage to the coils from the CDI, and then work back from there.

Will the system work without the Ignitor Unit.

You need the CDI, if that's what you mean by Ignitor Unit.
