removing the clutch plate Philips head bolts

Yes, I tried hard wood at first but the screws started spinning and the wood started smoking, lol.

my only concern on this mod would be the allens backing out as the tightening torque is the only thing holding them in, on the stock screw the spring tension keeps the screw from backing out, might not hurt to put the allen thru the hole and then pop it with a welder to make them one piece units again

Doesn't the spring tension also holds the allens, but indirectly? The spring put pressure on the modified old screw in between, now working as a long washer with a "hat" on top, which put pressure on the allen bolt.

Am about to buy allen screws to the mod.

Maybe a dum question, but need the allen screws to be stainless steel? What are the original JIS screws made of?

No, just normal steel is fine. The screws are constantly bathed in oil so no need for stainless and corrosion protection. I use black colored steel ones. I think it's a black oxide coating or something.
