Lads,
I am building my engine back up, I am not running the rev counter how far can you strip the tacho drive back?

I am thinking up to the the inside of the crank case removing parts 256-17841-01-00 256-17837-00-00 and 256-17831-00-00 and capping of the drive cable inlet with a blanking cap

With the right side cover off you can remove the shaft and the washer on the shaft where it goes in the bottom of the case.
Me I would leave it all in place with a cap where the cable hooks on. This way you can hook a cable and tach just for testing, as in checking timing advance, stting idle speed. Stuff like that.

any of you guys have a picture of what all should be coming out with the tachometer and cable? i used the tach delete plug from lowbrow, when i pulled it all out, im not sure if a washer came out with it all, any pictures would help greatly!

you need to find that washer that goes on the end of the long gear that is driven from the oil pump. I had my engine all apart, and couldnt find it, figured a po removed it on the past.
are you wiling to take that risk?

number 8 is the machine thrust washer on the shaft .... yeah you need to know if it's inside the case or not, engine lockup, trashed tranny time if it gets in the gears

If your not sure the washer came out, then it didn't. Pull the cover and find it.
