Replacing a Cam and question about interchangeability

gps2 has a cam for sale on the forums, and I recently cracked my cam in my engine.

Question is simple.

Will his cam work with my 1981 xs650 special?

Any help would be appreciated.

Yes it is a 447 cam. Same as yours.

All the cams from 74 up are all the same. The only thing is the later TCI cams don't have the bushings for the advancer rod. So if you want to use a later cam in a points engine you need to install the bushings.

I'm switching out to a PAMCO XSLeo so I was planning on replacing the bushings anyways =)

Adjust the valves to the specs of the new cam.

Usual consensus is exhaust .006" intake .003" all years. The spec changes were more about noise than anything else. First year Yamaha had them at .012" and .006" Never tried it, but I imagine the engine sounds like it's making hammers at those settings.
