Spring rates and damping would be something to look into for a seat apppication. Most any shock for amountain bike I have seen has a lot more leverage being put on it than it would in something like a solo seat. I would be worried about it being very stiff.
That is what I am trying to figure out. The seat shocks I have seen do not show the capacity like the bike shocks do and so it is difficult to find a smaller capacity bike shock.
