Drill it so the hole only dimples the shaft and put in a set screw. You may use 2 or 3 screws. I would use locktite on the set screws. By not drilling through the shaft you should not do any harm to its integrity. Tony C.

Hi tony,
my pedal's loose but it still grips the shaft enough to work.
Hopefully the replacement pedal I'm expecting will grip the shaft better.
If not, I plan on gashing the pedal slot wider, experimenting with metal-filled epoxy then drilling 1/8" along the splines at the pedal's split line so that 1/2 the hole is in the shaft and the other half is in the pedal then drive a 1/8" rollpin in there.
