short VIN #

Recently inherited a project from a buddy and am having trouble ID'ing the bike. The VIN is as follows 3J2-XXXXXX. All of the "X's" are numerals, the J is the only letter that appears. I haven't had any luck combing the interweb yet - any guidance and/or heckling is welcome...
 
Thanks Sinking - I all ready looked through that but couldn't find anything. The ass end of this thing has had more work done than Kim Kardashian - not too many original parts to aid in a visual ID...
