So I picked up a barrel on ebay and the seller claims its a factory 750cc kit, comes with barrel, rings and two pistons. I haven't physically checked yet but he said they are 84.25mm from memory. Also said it was to suit 256 rods.

anyone have any more info on this kit? compression ratio? is this kit rare?
thanks

All I know is that back in the day there were big bore kits. My friend Felix ran Ottawa cycle salvage used to sell em until the tx750 came out, then they couldnt get em anymore.

Sounds like the Halco 840 kit, which was 84mm, for Euro 533 rods, it used SP370 pistons slightly modified around the edge,

To use this kit if it is 84mm bore you will have to have the engine casings taken out to allow the liners to drop in, not as easy to fit as the 750 kits

Quite a common kit in Europe, especially with sidecar motocross, they are nearly all 840,

Heiden have 890 kits, also for the 533 engines http://www.xs650.biz/p/28/2736/mo74-cg|22=5/#05-0881-890cc-big-bore-kit-533-type-105:1-compression

It's definitely to suit the 256 rods as the piston pin (which I don't have) is 22mm when I measured id. Piston even has 84.25 cast into the top. All in good condition.

Will come in handy as I have a 256 engine almost complete in my shed
