I know this forum is for the xs650 but I need to ask this question to some of the more knowledgeable motor guys. On the xs400 forum a member has brought up the posiblity of adding one to his xs400. That is fine but with the bikes 180* crank and overlaping intake stokes, a single carb/charger would be a problem. A few have tried the single carb thing but always has had one piston hotter and hanging idle issues. All the bikes that I can find with a working charger where 270-360 cranks or harley v-twins. The builder states that the 180* crank would be a better setup for one, but no one has done it????

Looks like a fun project. Couple things to consider if chasing cylinder balance:

The cam timing and profile must be changed, as mentioned in that thread's link:

There is a slightly 'pulsed' output from roots blowers. If his ratio is 1:1, may be able to synchronize the pulse to the second/trailing cylinder...
