switching to push button start

shouldn't be hard. Need the solenoid circuit and that can be wired in on a separate loom through the ignition switch.

An example on a simplified wiring loom where it gives the Electric start as an option. Don't have to have the safety relay if you don't want it

Yep, easy as, but I'm sure you'll hear a view or two on how silly that is.

I converted mine to electric start only some time ago because I can't kick the thing anymore. The only problem I can see is an ocassional flat battery if you're doing a bit of stop/start riding and running the original alternator. i converted my 74 to PMA some ago.

If you want to remove the kicker gear altogether you'll need to plug the hole, This is a plug I made .

that’s clever. i like that.

Dick Russell had his bike electric leg only. As I remember, he used much larger battery cables, including the ground, all the way to the starter. You may want to check the starter brushes and clean it up good internally. I don't recall whether or not Dick used the stock, or an aftermarket start solenoid.

If just running an electric start I’d personally put a much larger battery in the bike.

It take a lot out of the factory spec battery to turn these things over from cold.

And the more they drain and charge the less and less they seem to performs.
