Problem is chain alignment on the sporty. No good way to measure so it's by eye.
same tires, but years apart. The XS has about 500mi on it, the sporty about 2000. just one season:( It's definitely off, per this doohickie. Anybody have a better way? It's an 86. Thanks JD.

Well that's what I got. It looks right chain to tire sides.
We'll see if wear decreases. And yup I need to oil my chain,
since I made a catch can for the bike I have to remember do it myself.

That's an interesting doohickie.
I was concerned about its accuracy so I brought it into work
and rolled the pin on one of our surface plates it was straight,
then I clamped it to a 5lb calibration bar and it was square.
So there it is, figured for $10 I'd give it a shot. There is a laser kinda one
on line for $40 but I didn't like the looks of it.

This looks simple to make. Much easier than aligning my Ultra. That is a major undertaking.

Thanks WingedWheel, problem is that #9 allen bolt.
no way to accurately find center. (Light bulb!)
Maybe cut an allen down and center drill a point for good reference.
Might have just come up with the solution.
Then using that If I pin mark the swing arm both sides closer to the axel bolt then I could use a caliper
to measure instead of flimsy wire. If this works on the sporty I'll do it on the XS too
instead of eyeballing it. I'll let you All know how it works out.
Thanks! JD
